I have seen my father suffer terribly, with what first became bladder cancer...then to kidney cancer...liver cancer........... He passed away 2 years ago. Now, my mother has rectal cancer and has undergone radiation and chemo. She refuses to remove the tumor surgically because she does not want a colostomy bag. We still have yet to find out if the tumor shrunk or dissolved with treatment. Her words are, "If it's still there, just leave me be!" And we have to respect that.

Cancer seems to be getting worse and worse, more and more, and never stopping. I don't remember so many people having cancer before in my life, or perhaps I'm just seeing more because I lost someone dear to me.

Your friend is no longer in pain and at peace. That's the only thing that makes my mind feel at ease regarding my father.

Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14986475569600734742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7826101215822428783.post-26958941748455187092014-12-09T12:52:18.687+05:302014-12-09T12:52:18.687+05:30Bill, So sorry about your friend's death. Actu...Bill, So sorry about your friend's death. Actually, I (Jolee) am a breast cancer survivor - lucky me, 17 years ago at age 51, I just had to have a mastectomy. Women who develop it at an earlier age, however, many times have an aggressive kind which is very hard to beat, and this after massive chemo and radiation treatments. So maybe Ulla was facing such a type of cancer.

From your description, it sounds like she was a lovely person.

J Senior Dogs Abroadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15070644209769137511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7826101215822428783.post-54769876035668781002014-12-08T23:15:13.158+05:302014-12-08T23:15:13.158+05:30Thank you for your lovely tribute, Bill. Your description of her is spot on...She was one of the smartest and most honest people I have ever met and she had a very positive effect on my life.

I will miss her very much, as I'm sure you will also.

Best wishes from Canada,
Andy (one upon a time known as Hrothgar on Multiply).Andyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08916644122837170097noreply@blogger.com
